THE SPITZ
Selected by Time Out as one of London's top 10 venues, the Spitz bistro, venue and gallery brings people together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to enjoy an eclectic range of arts events.
The Venue
The Spitz venue is a place of cultural fusion, where a variety of musical styles come together. The venue, with a capacity for 250 people, hosts gigs almost every evening, doors opening at 8pm. An innovative programme offers something for all tastes, from world music and jazz, to eclectic techno and dance DJs, through to funk, pop, indie and rock, always in a candlelit atmosphere.
The Bar/Bistro
Either for a quick drink or a pleasant lunch, the Spitz bar/bistro is a great place to stop after a Sunday trip to Spitalfields market and the gallery or before going to one of the gigs at the venue. Wooden tables, low-key lighting and colourful walls create a cosy atmosphere.
The bistro offers a superb and mouthwatering selection of dishes inspired by modern English, European and Pacific Rim cuisine. The bar also serves snacks and homemade desserts, as well as weekend brunch menus.

The Gallery
The Spitz Gallery element 3 has been a showcase for all types of contemporary art since it opened in June 1995. It has exhibited a wide range of work from artists of different styles, backgrounds and nationalities. In January 2002, the gallery made another move to mainly show photojournalistic work, becoming the only gallery in London to do so on a permanent basis.
Recent acclaimed exhibitions have included Marcus Bleasdale's One Hundred Years of Darkness, a photographic journey into the heart of the Congo and Andrew Firth's No Boundaries, an exploration of the underworld of the freeways of Seattle, USA.
